AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A BROW LAMINATION?
Brow Lamination MAY NOT be suitable for clients that:
COMMON SICKNESSES - The cold and flu are highly contagious. It is important to not proceed with an appointment if sick. It is recommended to wait at least 1 week after symptoms disappear to ensure that there is no risk of transmission of pathogens. We always want to maintain a clinically clean environment.
SKIN CONDITIONS - Psoriasis, Eczema, Alopecia, Sunburn, Ultra-Sensitive Skin, Wounds or Scar Tissue in the treatment area, Infection, Pimple in the treatment area
SEMI-PERMANANT MAKEUP - Microblading, shading or powdered brows are methods for achieving semi-permanent brows. The process requires breaking the skin and depositing pigment. Clients must wait a minimum of 6-8 weeks after the procedure to get Brow Lamination. The brow area must be completely healed. The lotions can affect the healing and cause injury if applied to an open wound.
SKIN TREATMENTS, PRODUCTS AND MEDICATION Exfoliating skin treatments (such as facials and laser facials), and skin products that cause the skin to regenerate quickly (retinol, AHA, BHA, Accutane) can cause the skin to thin out. Clients must wait a minimum of 4 weeks after their skin treatments (or follow the recommendation of their dermatologist), or approximately 6 months if on medication that affect the skin (such as Accutane).
HAIR CONDITIONS - Brow Lamination is a chemical process that breaks the chemical bonds in the hair, and reforms them to create a new shape. Not all hair types are suitable for this chemical process. Instant Brow Lift is an Alkaline based lift, so it is very strong. It is not suitable for clients with chemically damaged hair, as it can damage it further. If they have damaged brow hair, they must grow it out before getting a Brow Lamination. Curly hair consists of more disulfide bonds than straight hair. The lift lotion may not be able to break and reform all the disulfide bonds, resulting in unpredictable results.
PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING - Hormones are fluctuating during pregnancy and can continue to do so during breast feeding. Skin is usually more sensitive during this period, and the composition in the hair can change as well. Brow Lamination would not be suitable, as it can cause irritation or injury to the sensitized skin, and results are very unpredictable due to the change in hair. The skin can absorb products that are applied onto the skin. If certain chemicals get absorbed into the body, it can potentially be passed onto the baby. We want to minimize the possibility of exposure to the baby, therefore Brow Lamination is not suitable for those that are pregnant or breast feeding.
WILL A Brow laminationDAMAGE MY Brow?
No. So long as you follow proper aftercare your Brows will will remain happy & healthy
AFTERCARE
AVOID WATER, CLEANSERS, STEAM AND HEAT FOR 24 HOURS -Natural hair is acidic, with a pH of 4.5-5.5. During the Brow Lamination process, an alkaline lotion is used to break the bonds. Although the bonds are reformed with the set lotion, the hair is still a bit alkaline after the appointment and therefore the bonds need a bit of time to stabilize. The brows can be cleaned with a damp cotton pad if needed. Water, steam and heat are things that can change the physical bonds of the hair. As the hair is still stabilizing, exposing it to these sources can prevent the chemical bonds from stabilizing. Exposing the brows to cleansers, steam and heat prematurely can cause the brow hairs to become unruly.
CONDITION DAILY - Brow Lamination is a chemical process in which the hair bonds are broken and reformed, during this process, it can cause the hair to become dehydrated. It is very important to condition the brows daily to maintain the results until the brows grow out. Failure to condition daily will result in frizzy and unruly brows.
Hair Conditioner can be used on the brows to keep them hydrated and silky. Apply the conditioner onto the brows in the shower and let it sit for a few minutes.
Castor Oil is a vegetable oil pressed from castor beans. It is an amazing natural emollient that can be used to hydrate the skin and hair.
Brow Butter is a protein-infused daily conditioning treatment. Keeps the brows moisturized and healthy for long lasting results. Can be used day and night. (Coming soon to Sweet Beauty Shop!)
