Lash Lift Faqs
What is a lash lift & tint?
Lash Lift is a process which the lashes are restructured to create a lift. The results are customizable, but also highly dependent on the length and fullness of the clients natural lashes. The end results are beautifully lifted lashes that mimics lashes that were curled with a lash curler. It opens up the eyes to make them look more refreshed and awake.
How do I get ready for my lash lift?
NO MAKEUP -Any residue on the lashes can prevent the Lift Lotions from penetrating the lash and working properly. It is important to have the client arrive make up free - especially NO mascara, eyeliner and eyeshadow.
AVOID CAFFEINATED PRODUCTS - Caffeine is a stimulant, causing muscles to become jittery. Caffeine can cause the eyes to become very fluttery, which can cause the lotions to seep into the eye during the appointment.
COME FRESHLY SHOWERED - Lashes are not to get wet for 24 hours after your lift so it is recommended to keep in mind you will not be able to wash your hair right after your service.
REMOVE CONTACT LENSES - Keeping contact lenses in the eye can result in the product adhering on the lens and possibly compromise the stability of the lens which may result in injury.
how long will my lash lift appointment be?
About 40 - 50 minutes depends on how long and coarse the eyelashes are and if your lashes will be tinted.
Am i a good candidate for a lash lift?
Eyelash Lift & Tint MAY NOT be suitable for clients that:
COMMON SICKNESSES - The cold and flu are highly contagious. It is important to not proceed with an appointment if sick. It is recommended to wait at least 1 week after symptoms disappear to ensure that there is no risk of transmission of pathogens. We always want to maintain a clinically clean environment.
SKIN CONDITIONS - Dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis around the eye area are not suitable for a lash lift, as the adhesive comes into contact with the skin and may cause irritation.
EYE SURGERY - If you recently had eye surgery you need to obtain a doctor’s note advising that it is safe to proceed with a lash lift appointment. It is very important, as we do not want to effect how the eye heals should any lotions accidentally seep into the eye, or if the eye pad accidentally touches the eye. (wait a minimum of 6 months from your procedure)
SENSITIVE AND WATERY EYES - During a lash lift, the lotions are applied very close to the base of the natural lash. Should the eyes start watering, it may cause the lotions to run into the eyes, which may cause injury as the lotions contain very strong chemicals.
SHORT LASHES - Have very little natural eyelashes or have nothing. The gaps between your lashes will be more noticeable
PRE-EXISTING EYE(LID) CONDITIONS - Such as chronic dry eye, blepharitis, conjunctivitis and ocular rosacea
PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING - Hormones are fluctuating during pregnancy and can continue to do so during breast feeding. The composition of hair can change during this period and can cause unpredictable results.
Although the active products do not come into contact with the skin, we want to eliminate any possibility of the lotions coming being absorbed by the body. If certain chemicals get absorbed into the body, it can potentially be passed onto the baby. We want to minimize the possibility of exposure to the baby, therefore Lash Lift is not suitable for those that are pregnant or breast feeding.
Will a lash lift damage my lashes?
No. So long as you follow proper aftercare your lashes will will remain happy & healthy
Aftercare
AVOID WATER, CLEANSERS, STEAM AND HEAT FOR 24 HOURS - Natural hair is acidic, with a pH of 4.5-5.5. During the Lash Lift process, an alkaline lotion is used to break the bonds. Although the bonds are reformed with the set lotion, the hair is still a bit alkaline after the appointment and therefore the bonds need a bit of time to stabilize. The lashes can be cleaned with a damp cotton pad if needed. Water, steam and heat are things that can change the physical bonds of the hair. As the hair is still stabilizing, exposing it to these sources can prevent the chemical bonds from stabilizing. Exposing the lashes to cleansers, steam and heat prematurely can cause the brow hairs to become unruly.
CONDITION DAILY - Lash Lift is a chemical process in which the hair bonds are broken and reformed, during this process, it can cause the hair to become dehydrated. It is very important to condition the lashes daily to maintain the results until the lashes grow out. Failure to condition daily will result in frizzy and unruly lashes. What to condition with? Be sure to pick up our Keratin Elixir, retails for $75, It hydrates and nourishes the natural lashes, resulting in a long lasting curl. Alternatively you can use Castor Oil vegetable oil extracted from the Ricinus Communis plant. It is a natural emollient that can be used to condition lashes. It can be purchased from local health food stores or drug stores. Coconut Oil is an oil extracted from the kernel or meat of a mature coconut. It is a natural emollient that can be purchased from local health food stores or drug stores.
AVOID PHYSICAL CHANGE TO LASHES
- Eyelash curlers should not be used, as this can change the curl of the lash, resulting in unruly lashes.
-Avoid sleeping on lashes. Clients should sleep on their back or side to prevent the lashes from being squished. Constant squishing will result in unruly lashes.
-Avoid rubbing eyes, as the natural lashes can get ripped out.
How long will the results last?
Results can last 3-8 weeks depending on the aftercare and the clients natural lash growth cycle. The faster the natural lashes grow, the sooner the lash lift will grow out. To maintain neat and lifted lashes, the natural lashes will have to be re-lifted every 3-8 weeks.\
